HYPERBOLE AND EII TEAM UP TO MAKE MAGIC REAL

(March 8, 1999 - Seattle, WA) HyperBole Studios, developers of the best-selling The X-Files Game and VirtualCinema®, have announced that they have hired Entertaining Ideas, Inc. to represent them in finding a publisher for their newest game project, Mage: The Ascension. Mage, a popular pen and paper role-playing game, is being brought to the interactive arena through an agreement between HyperBole and White Wolf Publishing. HyperBole and White Wolf are working together on development of the game, which is in the early design stages.

Mage: The Ascension is set in a contemporary world of Sleepers and the Awakened - those who have been initiated into the realm of Magick. In the course of the game the player will "awaken" to the truth - that a secret, monumental battle between the primal forces of light and darkness is being fought in plain sight. This game will give HyperBole the vehicle to showcase new 3D graphics enhancements to the proven VirtualCinema® adventure gaming technology so successfully exploited in The X-Files Game.

"Entertaining Ideas blew us away with their hands-on approach to working with us and with publishers. They know the business and the games as well as we do, so we felt confident in their abilities to find the right publisher and communicate the unique gaming opportunity we are developing for Mage," said Greg Roach, HyperBole's CEO and Artistic Director.

Gil Winters, a principal with Entertaining Ideas, said, "HyperBole's track record really impressed us, and Mage is an especially attractive project because HyperBole fundamentally understands what made the original paper game cool, and is bringing that to life with dramatic visuals and a game design that is true to the license."

HyperBole and Entertaining Ideas plan to use this agreement as a basis for an ongoing and expanded relationship in the games arena. The Stuart M. Miller Co. continues to represent Greg Roach and HyperBole Studios in all motion picture and television activities, and other non-game, interactive entertainment.

HyperBole Studios, a creator of world-class interactive entertainment, was founded in 1990 by Greg Roach, one of the country's leading interactive designers. Its interactive game engine, VirtualCinema®, and award-winning CD-ROM titles have consistently broken new ground in the interactive entertainment market. The company recently began licensing its VirtualCinema technology. http://www.hyperbole.com
